The season of the British Touring Car Championship has come to an end and has crowned Gordon Shedden and the new Honda Civic Type R as champions after 30 exciting races 9 British circuits.
The Scot took his second championship of the specialty (the first 2012) after showing his spectacular driving style throughout the season and especially in the last race at the Brands Hatch circuit rising from its ashes like a phoenix to save her “match point” and win for just 4 Jason Plato points.
The help of his teammate Matt Neal was outstanding running third overall title and giving Honda Yuasa Racing team this year premiered the new Honda Civic Type R, come and win. Few can say the same.
Dramatic finish in the last race when everything indicated that Shedden could clinch the title over the weekend with the 23 points bringing income to Brands Hatch after Silverstone racing. The maxim of always racing, not to take anything for cattle until the final finish line, it regained compliance. Jason Plato was the virtual winner for quite some time, but in the end he used Shedden not carry ballast in the last race and risked to fly to fourth place. Its spectacular overtaking and as recovered from the position 19 on the grid to a podium step below.
The numbers do not fail and show the competitiveness of the championship, with a difference of only 4 points. Given that were 348 Shedden de por 344 Plato in 30 racing, it could not be tighter. Unlike perhaps it has been reflected in some moments of bad luck along the Plate Championship, but everything counts.
“Flash” Gordon Shedden and his new team Honda Civic Type-R will have deserved, Congratulations!
